QA - Work Placement
Work Placement:
As students approach the culmination of the program, they are required to engage in a 300-hour work placement within a medium to large-sized software company with an Information Technology department, spanning various industries. The practicum serves as a comprehensive integration of the knowledge and skills acquired throughout the program.
Knowledge Core Competency:
Upon completion of the work placement, students are expected to recognize the significance of developing a reflective practice through the maintenance of a daily journal capturing practicum experiences.
Objectives:
- Articulate the importance of maintaining a reflective practice through a daily journal of practicum experiences.
- Explain how each practicum assignment and experience contributes to evaluating practices and decisions.
- Recognize the value of constructive criticism from others and incorporate useful information into personal practice.
Skill Core Competency:
The practicum serves as a platform to showcase the skills developed over the course of the program.
Objectives:
- Take accountability for actions, making corrections when appropriate and being prepared to explain decisions.
- Demonstrate a willingness to learn from co-workers and supervisors.
- Reflect on and assess experiences with the intention of transferring skills to diverse situations.
- Exhibit the ability to adapt skills to address new situations, reflecting on and evaluating adaptations.
