You as a personal support worker have an important role to play in the health care industry in providing patient care and comfort in private homes or health care facilities. Personal support worker program at CACC trains you to work with other health care professionals to provide several services for the elderly, disabled and ill, and finally help them rehabilitate or simply live their lives in the most comfortable way possible.

Personal support worker courses combine practical skills in a classroom setting in developing your communication and patient care skills as well as harnessing your support techniques that patients require in an industry that involves caring for the sick.

Besides, you will have eight weeks of clinical placement to practice your skills.

You will also learn about managing specific patient types, such as those with cognitive disorders (e.g. dementia or Alzheimer’s) or those who require palliative care. Besides, you learn conflict management and family communication skills to be the best personal support worker in the industry.

Once you pass NACC exam, you will receive a Personal Support Worker certificate from NACC as well as a certificate of completion from CACC.

Admission Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent or mature student status and successful completion of entrance examination;
  • Medical Certificate (free of communicable disease with up to date immunization status,) and
  • TB skin test and police clearance (vulnerable persons.)
