Assisting with Personal Hygiene:
This module focuses on Personal Support Workers’ (PSWs) role in assisting clients with all activities of daily living. The emphasis is on providing care for clients who may be ill, disabled, injured, or confused, taking into account factors such as frailness, dignity, and levels of dependence. Personal hygiene is a central component, encompassing oral care, perineal care, bathing, grooming, dressing, bed making, shaving, hair care, and skin care. The module also addresses mobility considerations, prioritizing personal safety, self-esteem, and maintaining the dignity of clients. The underlying philosophy is centered around humanistic health care.
