Knowledge Core Competency Objectives: Upon completion of this subject, a student is expected to explain the concepts of Professionalism, Products, and Product integration.

  1. Understand the professional expectations for dress, hygiene, and grooming.
  2. Interpret the employee code of professional conduct.
  3. Demonstrate municipal, provincial, and federal regulations related to the profession.
  4. Select the products required for the treatment according to a skin analysis.
  5. Acquire knowledge of esthetic products and product ingredients.
  6. Determine the correct usage of various skin, body care, and makeup products and tools.

Skill Core Competency Objectives: Upon completion of this subject, a student is expected to perform duties based on professional skills acquired from the program of study and be able to operate routine Salon functions.

  1. Communicate skills in dealing with clients, suppliers, and coworkers.
  2. Solicit constructive feedback related to one’s own performance, strengths, and limitations to identify areas for professional growth and development.
  3. Explain a home maintenance schedule and demonstrate to the client the correct usage of various skin and body care and makeup products and tools.
  4. Conduct a professional client consultation and elicit appropriate information to recommend a range of esthetic services.
  5. Protect the clients’ legal rights to privacy and confidentiality.
  6. Demonstrate conflict resolution skills.
