It covers the positioning of clients and the application of various spa products like seaweed, essential oils, and mud. The subject also addresses the skills needed for a competitive advantage in the spa industry.

Knowledge Core Competency Objectives: Upon completion of this subject, a student is expected to explain how estheticians can enhance their product knowledge and develop new skills for full-body treatments.

  1. State the brief history of the spa industry.
  2. Describe the equipment needed to deliver spa treatments.
  3. Explain how enhancers can elevate the client’s massage experience.
  4. State the core techniques essential for the effective application of spa products.
  5. Discuss common treatments delivered in most spas.
  6. Discuss the Fango method for chronic muscular conditions.
  7. Explain the importance of sanitation to promote cleanliness and proper hygiene.

Skill Core Competency Objectives: Upon completion of this subject, a student is expected to deliver a positive spa experience for clients as a form of better health care.

  1. Use safety measures such as ethics, scope of practice, sanitation, hygiene, and other safety protocols.
  2. Adopt the proper use of wet room equipment, such as Vichy showers, Swiss showers, and hydrotherapy tubs.
  3. Prepare for the treatment and position the client at the beginning of the massage service.
  4. Apply reflexology and massage techniques effectively for pain relief.
  5. Apply stone massage techniques with attention to detail.
  6. Apply Ayurvedic bodywork and spa applications.
