This module is designed to familiarize Medical Office Administrative Assistants (MOAs) with the diverse billing procedures prevalent in the medical field. Understanding the intricacies of billing, including OHIP, WSIB, Private, and Out-of-Province billing, is crucial for effective medical office management. Both manual and computerized billing methods will be introduced and mastered.

Knowledge Core Competency: Upon completing this module, you will be able to recite the responsibilities and challenges faced by MOAs in their day-to-day tasks, particularly in managing medical office front desk operations and assisting medical practitioners and support staff.

Objectives:

  1. List the steps involved in using a Claims form and supporting documentation for OHIP billing.
  2. Repeat the process of recording patient charges into journals accurately.
  3. Arrange the proper procedures for completing hospital requisitions efficiently.

Skill Core Competency: Upon completing this module, you will be proficient in applying work habits essential for managing a medical office front desk and assisting with administrative documentation and medical records.
