Sonography is an expanding career in the healthcare field due to the non-invasive, safe and accurate diagnoses. Sonographers use high-frequency sound waves to produce dynamic visual images of tissues, organs or blood flow inside the body. This imaging technique is used to assess many different body components, including the abdomen, heart, prostate, blood arteries, female reproductive organs, and many more locations that need attention. The Diagnostic Medical Sonography programme prepares students for various healthcare settings through didactic, simulation, and clinical experiences.
CACC Diagnostic Medical Sonography program (probationary status as required by MCU) is based on the National Competency Profiles (NCP) Generalist https://sonographycanada.ca/
The CACC DMS Program (Probationary by MCU) has didactic, simulation and practicum lab components. These components help to build knowledge, skills, medical ethics, and legal and law comprehension of professional practice required as a sonographer.
