In this module, students will be introduced to two significant aspects: Community Mental Health and Substance Abuse Prevention.

  1. Learning about Mental Health Practice in Canada:
    • Students will gain insights into the landscape of mental health practice in Canada, exploring the various approaches, interventions, and support systems available.
    • Topics may include mental health assessment, therapeutic modalities, and the role of mental health professionals in community settings.
  2. Understanding Mental Health Law in Canada:
    • The module will cover the legal frameworks and regulations governing mental health practice in Canada.
    • Students will learn about the rights and responsibilities of mental health practitioners and the legal considerations related to mental health treatment and care.
  3. Exploring Personality Disorders:
    • Students will delve into the understanding of personality disorders, examining different types, diagnostic criteria, and the impact on individuals’ functioning and relationships.
    • The module may cover strategies for intervention and support for individuals with personality disorders.
  4. Understanding Substance-Related Disorders:
    • The module will provide insights into substance-related disorders, addressing issues related to substance abuse, addiction, and their impact on mental health.
