QuickBooks:

This subject introduces students to QuickBooks as a small business accounting package, providing insights into performing day-to-day accounting transactions, individual financial entries, and utilizing sophisticated tools for business management.

Knowledge Core Competency: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to explain the QuickBooks computerized accounting software, covering the setup of a company’s accounting activities, the use of Inventory Management, and conducting Payroll Analysis.

Objectives:

  1. Explain the process of company setup, including Chart of Accounts and QuickBooks list.
  2. State how to set up Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable, Sales Tax.
  3. Explain the setup of Payroll and tracking time.
  4. Recite the procedures for dealing with Inventory Management, including setting up items, ordering, receiving, and adjusting.
  5. Discuss the analysis of financial data, including creating, customizing, and saving reports.
  6. Explain how to customize forms and write QuickBooks business letters.

Skill Core Competency: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to use QuickBooks system functions effectively in any accounting environment.

Objectives:

  1. Set up new accounts, work with lists, and manage bank accounts.
  2. Record sales, create invoices, receive payments, and make bank deposits.
  3. Set up employees in the payroll system and produce payroll for the organization.
  4. Analyze financial data and create reports meaningful to the user.
  5. Set up and manage inventory, monitoring inventory activity.
  6. Communicate effectively using software pre-loaded templates.
  7. Write letters and create new forms as required.
