Property Management:
This subject will provide students with an introduction and overview of the property management profession. Students will explore daily issues facing practitioners, such as maintenance, accounting, administrative, and legal activities.
Knowledge Core Competency: Upon completion of this subject, a student is expected to explain key property management concepts required in day-to-day operations.
Objectives:
List four classifications of real property and give examples of each. Identify the research necessary to develop a management plan. Explain the advantages and disadvantages of various advertising methods. Explain the process of qualifying a tenant. Discuss the kinds of maintenance operations and give an example of each. Discuss methods of managing tenant relations. Discuss how to market office and retail space. Describe the role of personnel in life safety situations.
Skill Core Competency: Upon completion of this subject, a student is expected to be able to work alongside maintenance, accounting, and administrative staff, performing property management duties.
Objectives:
Preserve and/or increase the value of the investment property. Complete reports that must be presented to management. Develop advertising campaign strategies. Work with legal staff to prepare and obtain lease agreements.
