This subject guides students through the step-by-step process of planning, designing, and executing operations and maintenance procedures for structures, equipment, and systems in any type of facility. It equips students with the tools needed to streamline facility management processes, reduce operational costs, and ensure the effective utilization, maintenance, repair, and renovation of existing physical assets.

Knowledge Core Competency: Upon completion of this subject, a student is expected to discuss the role of maintenance in minimizing the risks related to safety or environmental incidents.

Objectives:

  1. Explain the need for organizing maintenance operations.
  2. Discuss the importance of an annual maintenance operational report.
  3. Outline the major components of a Preventive Maintenance Plan.
  4. List the major items included in a Total Quality Management Program.
  5. Discuss the importance of implementing Equipment and Systems Operations and Maintenance Procedures.
  6. List outsourcing considerations for specialized procedures.
  7. Discuss the importance of performing elevator and escalator equipment and systems maintenance and review.
  8. Identify topics to be included in a Facilities Emergency Preparedness plan.

Skill Core Competency: Upon completion of this subject, a student is expected to be able to select the proper tools that best fit the needs and circumstances of building maintenance procedures.
