This subject presents systems and practices to enhance a facility’s ability to avoid fires, limit fire development and spread, and effectively control fires. It guides students in decision-making regarding in-house control and outsourcing.

Knowledge Core Competency: Upon completion of this subject, a student is expected to discuss systems and practices that increase a facility’s ability to avoid and control fires.

Objectives:

  1. List factors in fire prevention basics.
  2. Describe hazardous commodities such as solids, liquids, and gases.
  3. Explain the role of firefighters.
  4. List various types of sprinkler systems.
  5. List various types of fire alarm systems.
  6. List various types of fire pumps.
  7. Explain the difference between types of fires in different facilities.
