Academic Progress Policy

Purpose

This policy guarantees that full-time students fulfill the graduation requirements at Canadian All
Care College (CACC). It is intended to ensure that all CACC students maintain satisfactory
academic standing and make steady progress towards completing their educational programs
successfully. The policy outlines the expectations, requirements, and procedures related to
academic performance, including minimum grade standards, probationary periods, and
interventions to support students throughout their academic journey.

SCOPE

This Policy is intended for students to foster academic excellence, encourage success, and
maintain the integrity of the educational programs offered at CACC. CACC aims to provide all
students with a supportive and conducive learning environment by upholding these standards.

POLICY

CACC students are responsible for ensuring they meet the graduation requirements of their
program. The progress of all students working towards their career goals will be reviewed
regularly, at least midway through their programs. Students may be subject to withdrawal from
the program if their academic progress is unsatisfactory, as indicated by their assessments,
participation, attendance, or other program-specific requirements.

ACADEMIC EVALUATION METHODS

Academic evaluation methods refer to the various approaches and techniques to assess students’
learning, knowledge, skills, and overall academic performance. These methods help measure
how students have achieved the planned learning outcomes and provide CACC and the student
feedback on where to improve. Here are some common academic evaluation methods:
1. Examinations and Tests: This method involves written assessments to evaluate students’
knowledge and understanding of a subject.
2. Projects and Assignments: Students are given specific tasks or projects to complete, which
allow them to demonstrate their skills, creativity, and understanding of the subject.
3. Practical Assessments: These evaluations assess students’ ability to apply academic
knowledge in practical situations.
4. Active Participation: This method involves ongoing in class student interaction
performance evaluation throughout the academic year.
It’s important to note that different evaluation methods have strengths and weaknesses. A
combination of techniques is often used to comprehensively assess students’ academic progress
and capabilities. CACC encourages instructors to evaluate their students while utilizing the
assessment materials provided.

PROGRESS REPORT

  • Progression through a program relies entirely on completing program requirements, such as
prerequisites and corequisites, practicum requirements, etc. A student at CACC will be provided
with a comprehensive review of their academic standing during the mid-point within the
program of their choice. The progress report is issued before confirming the second enrolment,
giving students an idea of where they stand before considering proceeding with the program.
*Note: All progress reports will be filed into the student file for record-keeping
    Student Evaluation Criteria
Student evaluation is a non-academic criterion in which the instructor determines if the student
    meets the CACC standards

TRANSCRIPT

Transcripts play a vital role in academic evaluation and assessment. They are official documents
that provide a detailed record of a student’s academic achievements. Transcripts are typically
used in various contexts, including:
     1. Diploma/Certification Completion: Transcripts are necessary to verify the program
requirements’ completion. Transcripts provide evidence of completed courses and grades
earned during the academic program.
     2. Employment and Professional Opportunities: Transcripts can be requested by
employers or professional organizations as part of the application process. Employers
may use transcripts to verify candidates’ educational backgrounds, assess their academic
performance, and evaluate their suitability for a specific position or career path.
Transcripts provide a comprehensive and official record of a student’s academic journey and are
crucial in various educational and professional contexts.

CACC STANDARD

All CACC students are expected to comply with the CACC academic standards to be eligible for
graduation. If a student faces difficulty complying with the standards, the college will get
notified and intervene if necessary.
Academic intervention refers to targeted strategies and support measures to help students
experiencing academic difficulties or falling behind in their studies. The academic intervention
aims to identify and address a student’s challenges, provide additional assistance, and promote
academic success. Here are some common types of academic interventions:
1. Remedial Plans: These plans offer additional guidance and support to help students
catch up with their peers in specific subjects or skill areas.
2. Academic Counseling: The student support department works with students to identify
their academic challenges, set goals, and develop strategies for improvement.

3. Academic Monitoring and Progress Reports: Regular monitoring of student progress,
including frequent assessment and feedback, helps identify areas where students may
need additional support. Progress reports can be shared with students to track academic
growth and identify areas of improvement

CACC ACADEMIC ALERT SYSTEM

An academic alert system provides timely intervention and support to struggling students. It aims
to help students recognize their academic challenges, seek assistance, and make the necessary
changes to improve their performance. By identifying at-risk students early on, CACC can
provide the necessary resources and support to increase the chances of student success.
Stage 1: Academic Warning
CACC uses this system to notify students who are at risk of falling behind in their education. It is
an early step to encourage students to meet academic requirements.
Stage 2: Academic Probation
If a student does not comply with the academic warnings placed by the instructor and academic
department, a warning letter with a probationary period will be issued. Two warning letters must
be issued to be considered for termination.
Stage 3: Academic Withdrawal
Students who fail to comply with the standards set in stage two will be subjected to termination
within the program.
Appeal Process:
Students who wish to appeal an academic withdrawal decision may follow the established appeal
process outlined by the college.
The appeal process will allow students to present relevant information or circumstances that may
have affected their academic performance.
The Director of the College will review the appeal and decide on the student’s reinstatement or
withdrawal.

CACC ACADEMIC TERMINATION

It’s important to note that academic termination is a serious consequence and can have long-term
implications for a student’s educational and professional future. Students must comply with
CACC’s academic policies and requirements, seek academic support when needed, and try to
address any academic challenges they may face. Communication with academic advisors, instructors, or relevant support services can provide guidance and assistance to help students
navigate their academic journey.

CACC will provide training and resources to employees and individuals associated with the
organization to ensure compliance with this policy. CACC will periodically review and update
this policy to ensure its continued relevance and compliance with applicable laws and
regulations. Failure to comply with the policy may result in disciplinary action in accordance
with CACC`s procedures and applicable laws. In case of any disputes, updated printed copies
of CACC policies will take precedence over the policies published on our website
